A Pinch of Baked Goods for Good 2.0

First off, Go Birds. Now let's raise money for Philabundance this time around and share meals that we all deserve access to

A Pinch of Baked Goods for Good 2.0

We’ll get to some fun food highlights later on in this week’s A Pinch Of, but I want to prioritize putting a bake sale to some good again this year. This weekend we’ll be doing another Baked Goods for Good sale to raise money for Philabundance.

Their great work provides millions of meals each year. And right now more than 800K people rely on SNAP benefits in our region. We can hope things are sorted out soon, but for now some baked goods here can raise some money so everyone can have access to meals like we all deserve.

The first time we did a Baked Goods for Good donation last October, we raised more than $800 for World Central Kitchen’s Hurricane Relief Efforts. While that may be small in their numbers, I was amazed at how much was raised for something started here.

Quick highlight: I’ll be raising money for Philabundance by selling baked goods for pickup in Philly and West Chester this Saturday, November 15. Can’t pickup? Feel free to add a donation to the larger support on the form below as well.

Here’s a quick rundown of just how far even $10 for them can go a bit further:

The Rundown

100% of proceeds will be donated to Philabundance.

The form breaks it down completely, but here’s a quick rundown:

Select any (or all) of the baked goods available, descriptions and pictures shared on form:

  • Lemon-Blueberry Scones

  • Swedish Cinnamon Buns

  • Brown Butter Pumpkin Cake

Choose your pickup time on Saturday, Oct. 15 – Philly between 10 and 10:30 a.m. (or flexible later) and West Chester between noon and 1 p.m.

Not in the area or can’t make the pickup? There’s a donation option right on the form if you’d like to contribute to the overall donation.

Following the submission of your form, you will receive pick-up and payment or donation instructions.

The order form will close on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 11:59 p.m.

Thank you for even being part of this A Pinch Of community. Look forward to raising money again this year to share meals around our area.

Thank you always for considering the support here! And if you’d like to share the form feel free to do so with anyone.

Don’t let the cold, grey start to the week bring down the mood. You’ve got a sunny weekend and some baked goods to look forward to if you place that order for Saturday.

A Pinch Of Roses (No Thorns Here)

We’ll do a quick rundown here from the past week because the weather was beautiful, we had a great Sunday dinner and, most importantly, we celebrated my mom on her birthday (and a few other birthdays)!

Everyone say, “Happy birthday, Lori!” A celebration-worthy meal was had at Nectar in Berwyn last week.

Friday morning did in fact start with a trip to the newly-renovated Malvern Buttery as we mentioned. A harissa BEC for my dad, an everything bagel and cream cheese (best bagel I’ve had around West Chester), a kouign amann (of course) and an orange and almond financier.

And the birthday’s didn’t stop there. Saturday night out to celebrate another old-man friend hitting 30 years – happy birthday, Nate! And Sunday was cake pickup day for another birthday (happy birthday, Mrs. H!) A gluten-free swirl layered cake with chocolate buttercream frosting based on this recipe from Eat with Clarity and this one from Gluten-Free on a Shoestring for the vanilla cake. High praise from the crowd that it was well enjoyed. Need to work on decorating soon.

Rounded out the full week with some Sunday soup to prep for the cold weather this week. Italian Wedding Soup from A Bright Moment hit just the spot and leftovers for the week will be perfect for easy warm meals.

That’ll do it for the quick rundown of the busy week all over. We’re just getting started with the busy end of the year. For now, I’ll drop the order / donation form again to get right to the point. Thank you all for considering some goods to add to the donations!

See you this weekend (also Go Birds tonight 🦅) ! 🤘
